Welcome to Chris Smith's little piece
of the Internet. Here I hope you find something of interest and value,
otherwise, why would I spend my
"free" time creating such a place. If you have any comments, suggestions
or
you just want to share something,
please feel free to email me... [email protected]
SERVER BACK UP (5/20/2000): The Intel Pentium 166mhz chip (over-clocked
to 200)
took a nose dive. I have since replaced that guy with a AMD K6-233
mhz proc and
everything seems to be running smoothly again. (sorry for the inconvience)
SERVER DOWN (5/17/2000): The web server is down and I have yet
to find the cause,
but I was getting general protection vaults like crazy and then nothing.
It might take
a couple of days to determine the root cause and then to fix it, but
I will try to resolve
this problem ASAP. (The server also handles all of our internet connections,
so
the old lady will be riding me until it gets back up and running.)
:-)
STARTING MY NEW JOB (4/24/2000): The position that I have acquired
at AT&T
is called: SoftWare Tools Administrator. The tool in
question is call Metaphase,
which is
a PDM (Product Data Management) tool. PDM's help a company share information
between "need-to-know" parties without having redundant systems. This
will be my most
challenging IT job to-date, I am really looking forward to the challenge
and working in
a large corporate environment for the first time. More
on PDM's.
LEAVING INTELIANT FOR AT&T (4/14/2000): Today I handed in
my resignation letter
to Inteliant for a permanent position with AT&T Fixed Wireless.
I wasn't really looking at
AT&T when I started looking for another job, but it was offered
and I accepted the position.
The pay increase is about what I was expecting, however, the benefits
package completely
surpasses that of most companies and was the determining factor
in my decision to switch.
SERVER UPGRADED (3/24/2000): The Web server has just been upgraded
from a Pentium 75
and 1gig worth of space to a Pentium 200 with 2gig worth of web and
FTP storage space. This
should provide enough speed and storage space to keep the site up and
running for some time.
CHRIS GETS HIS AA DEGREE FROM SCCC (3/21/2000): After attending
school
full-time and part-time since the Summer of 1996, I have finally obtained
my Associates
of Arts Degree which effectly ends this chapter of my life. I will
remove my student cap and
focus on my technical career goals before attempting to obtain a four
year university degree.
THANKS TO STACY FOR ALL HER SUPPORT, WITHOUT HER THIS
ACHIEVEMENT MAY NEVER HAVE HAPPENED.
TAX TIME IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER (2/2/2000): It is that time
of year again
when we all look at how much money we made or (didn't) make and gasp
at where it all went.
STACY HAS ENTERED THE MANAGEMENT ARENA (1/1/2000): Stacy has
just changed positions in Washington Mutual again, she is now the Opertions
Supervisor at
her branch. This is an entry level management position, in which she
manages the teller line
along with many other tasks. She also acts as branch manager when the
other managers are
not there. Congratulations Stacy! Job well done...
